The Fan Museum, under the guidance of a fully trained specialist conservator, runs a conservation unit where work is undertaken for other museums and members of the public. Conservation (as distinct from repair or restoration) can be undertaken. Mrs. Alexander, the Director and Curator of the museum, can advise on preventative and remedial conservation by appointment only.

A full report on the state of the fan, with historical notes, is sent after the fan has been examined by curatorial staff, together with an estimate for the work suggested. When the work is completed, the owner is advised either by telephone or in writing, and upon receipt of payment, the fan can be dispatched by recorded delivery post. It is, of course, always preferable to collect in person. Feel free to e-mail us with any conservation queries. |
