On 14th February 2026, The Fan Museum hosted a chamber play written by Wayne Drew, starring Richard Holliss and Geraldine Watts!

On 19th December 2025, The Fan Museum hosted a special Dickensian performance by Richard Holliss to mark the festive season!

On the evening of Tuesday 30th September a Private View and Reception was held to mark the opening of our new exhibition ‘Fans in the Time of Jane Austen’ for fellow Museum Associates.

Following our January closure, we are once again open to the public. We are open Tuesday- Saturday from 11am- 5pm (last admissions at 4.30pm)

2021 marks 30 years since The Fan Museum first opened to the public. To celebrate this landmark anniversary, the Museum is launching a series of free-to-attend online talks, each exploring a different aspect of the Museum’s extensive archive of fan-themed exhibitions.

The Fan Museum is a small, independent organisation which does not receive public funding. We rely on a team of wonderful volunteers who make an important and valued contribution to our success.

The Fan Museum’s Autumn/Winter events programme is well underway, with two unmissable performances yet to take place before the year concludes.

The Fan Museum is delighted to announce that its curator, Jacob Moss has been successful in his application to become an accredited lecturer for The Arts Society (formerly NADFAS).  Jacob is the only speaker currently listed within the Directory as offering fan-themed talks and is looking forward to travelling around the UK, promoting The Fan Museum and educating TAS audiences on the various aspects of the history of fans and craft of fan making.

We’re hosting a Local Community Open Day on Saturday 16th December to encourage residents from the Royal Boroughs of Greenwich and Lewisham to explore and discover our historic and contemporary collections for FREE*.

Winter 2015/16 Opening & Closing Times at The Fan Museum

The Fan Museum is pleased to announce that a fan from it collections has made it onto the ‪Teaching History with 100 Objects list.

On Saturday 21st September 2013 The Fan Museum will once again be taking part in Open House London.

On Saturday 27th July 2013 The Fan Museum is holding a Local Community Open Day with the aim of encouraging residents from nearby boroughs to visit the museum.

The Fan Museum’s patron, The Duchess of Cornwall, recently gave our Royal Greenwich fan the royal seal of approval.

London is a city which is renowned for its cultural and artistic diversity. Hosting more museums than any other major city, we are privileged to be able to enjoy these Wunderkammern of knowledge, both large and small. But without the generous help of volunteers, who give their time, dedication, enthusiasm and knowledge, many smaller museums would struggle to survive.

Continuing a long-held tradition of producing commemorative fans, The Fan Museum has commissioned a supremely elegant fan to mark the occasion of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee.
