It’s all coming together…

Over the past few weeks, our small exhibitions team (curator, Jacob Moss and assistant, Imy Clarke) have been especially busy preparing for the fast-approaching opening of Street Fans on the 19th September.

So, what exactly has been occurring since you helped us raise over £14,000 toward this amazing project?

Sylvain Le Guen, Europe’s leading fan maker, has gone into overdrive, skilfully transforming each of the participating artists unique fan designs. His bold and beautiful creations have been arriving at the Museum on a weekly basis.

Photographer Rhian Cox has completed two shoots: one for the poster and publicity artworks and another for the Street Fans exhibition catalogue.

Graphic designer Mike Cathro has been busy weaving his magic with Rhian’s images to create a set of dynamic, contemporary exhibition posters – look out for these at Cutty Sark DLR and venues across London.

The catalogue is nearing completion and will include sections on fan making (in the guise of a lively dialogue between curator Jacob Moss and fan maker Sylvain Le Guen) plus artist profiles and, of course, a gorgeous selection of colour images showcasing each of the artists’ fans.

Thank you again for enabling us to create such a valuable project. We hope you’ll find time to visit Street Fans in the coming months.
