Orangery Hire Request

The Orangery is used solely for private event bookings, functions and celebrations within Museum operating hours, with bookings finishing no later than 17h00 on any given day. Please note the Orangery is not available on public holidays.

We ask that viewings for any prospective event be pre-booked via the Museum Office as we may not be able to accommodate walk-in viewing requests.

Specialised catering requests will incur additional costs (see more at the bottom of the page).

Our standard hire charges Monday-Saturday (working days) are as follows:

£165.00 per hour

£600.00 for a half day (4 hours)

£1,000.00 for a full day (8 hours)

For hires up to an hour and a half on working days, a flat fee of £150.00 is applicable

Any prospective bookings on a Sunday will be charged a premium rate of £325.00 per hour due to only a skeleton staff being in operation.

The below booking request form should be completed and submitted for any events looking to use the Orangery. A member of staff will be in contact after receiving the form to finalise the details of the proposed booking.

    The information you submit here will only be used for processing your Orangery hire enquiry. You can learn more about how we safeguard your personal data in our Privacy Policy.

    Booking Terms

    • For guided tour groups, please specify in advance if refreshments are to be taken pre- or post- tour.
    • The hire entitles use of the Orangery for a minimum of 1.5 hours.
    • A non-refundable deposit of 10% of the quoted price (or £50.00, whichever is the greater) must be paid to confirm the booking slot immediately.
    • We require all hires to be prepaid at least two weeks prior to the agreed event date.
    • We reserve the right to cancel events that do not provide full information (inclusive of group numbers and dietary requirements) as required at a minimum of two weeks prior to the event date. Information shared after this point may not be applied to bookings.
    • We are unable to accept event booking requests received less than two weeks prior to the prospective event date.
    • The Museum’s garden is strictly out of bounds.
    • Music should not be played in the Orangery, with the exception of events who request of us to take out a Temporary Event Notice with The Royal Borough of Greenwich Council.
    • We have a maximum capacity of 30 people in The Orangery at any one time (exclusive of necessary registrar[s] for a prospective Wedding or Civil Ceremony booking).

    For events that require specialised catering outside of The Fan Museum’s offering, we have a number of external suppliers on our books who we would be happy to recommend:

    For any queries about which would be the best fit for an event, please contact the Museum Office.

    Please note that any external caterer or events company not already on our books will need to arrange for an appointment at The Fan Museum to meet with the Museum Director and General Manager prior to any event booking.

    The Museum is open Tuesday – Saturday, 11:00am – 5:00pm, last entry at 4:30pm. 

    Until otherwise stated, the Museum will be open for general entry from 11:00am-1:00pm, closed to the public between 1:00pm and 2:00pm for lunch, and open again as usual from 2:00pm.
